The Venice Carnival 2025, one of the largest parties in the world, begins on February 14th and will last until March 4th 2025.

Visit the glassmakers on the island of Murano

Venetians have been professional glassmakers for over 1,500 years, that’s longer than they have had Carnival, so they must be pretty good. For a nice day trip during the Venice Carnival 2025, why not take a boat bus from the city to Murano, home of glass making in Venice.

There are several of them, ranging from different locations in the city to the island. Depending on where you are it could take around 40 minutes to an hour to reach Murano. Some of the bus boat routes pass by Cemetery Island, which is also worth taking a few shots.

Once you arrive in Murano, you can wander around at your leisure and dare to check out some of the local glass factories/studios, if you wish. But be careful, if you ask for a demonstration of their skills, they will try to sell you some of their excellent handcrafted products! Depending on the day, there will also be Carnival-related events.

Visit a mask manufacturer

The venetian mask-makers are true artists and the online reviews are real showdowns depending on how good you dare to look. We suppose it depends on the day you visit them: you know how fickle and capricious artists can be.

But, if you are not overly sensitive, a visit to a mask atelier is especially appropriate to do during the Venice Carnival 2025. They will work hard, but you may be in a better mood than usual given that it is Carnival time.

Treasure hunt in Venice

So there are some crazy non-decadent party things to do during Venice Carnival 2025.

There are obviously lots of things to do at Carnival, such as dressing up in “Midnight in Venice” style, experiencing it like an 18th century Venetian and visiting places with an Easter or Lenten atmosphere.
