High Water in Venice: A Unique Experience

High water in Venice is a captivating phenomenon that draws visitors from around the world. This natural event, also known as "acqua alta," occurs when the water level in the lagoon basin rises.

Currently, thanks to the MOSE project (Experimental Electromechanical Module), the problem of high water has been largely resolved. In general, high water in Venice reaches at most ankle height, ensuring that the city remains easily navigable during this event.

High water provides a unique opportunity to photograph the city, as the buildings are reflected in the water, creating an enchanting scenery. The images captured during high water convey a unique perspective of Venice, highlighting its beauty and vulnerability.
